The first edition of the Ultrabike Santa Rosa Club, which was held on Sunday in Costa Teguise, already has its winners. Two races made up this 'mountain bike' competition: the Cegrisa Ultra, of 112 kilometers; and the MC2Action Bike, of 53 kilometers.

About 140 runners took part in this I Ultrabike Santa Rosa Club. In the Cegrisa Ultra race, the winners were James Angus Ouchterlony, with a time of 4 hours 18 minutes 23 seconds; and María del Cristo Alonso Lugo, with a time of 6 hours, 11 minutes and 53 seconds, in the female category. Francisco José Pérez Cruz (4:24:10) and Enrique Curbelo Gopar (4:28:41) completed the absolute male podium, while Juana Teresa Negrín Sanginés (6:32:59) occupied the second step of the female podium.

On the other hand, the absolute winners of the MC2Action race were Iván Guerra Pérez, with a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 7 seconds; and Beatriz Delgado Camacho, who stopped the clock at 2 hours, 56 minutes and 2 seconds. She was accompanied on the podium of the female category by Erica Herrera Armas (3:35:56). For their part, Ayoze Hernández Hernández (2:10:26) and José Manuel Basdedios Díaz (2:14:58) completed the absolute male podium.

In general, the impression that this race has caused in the participants has been very good, as they have highlighted its hardness, its high demand, the variety of floor types and the landscapes through which its itinerary runs. These assessments mean that the organization, formed by the Island Sports Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Santa Rosa Sports Club, is already thinking about the II Ulterabike for next year.

The start of this race began at 10:00 a.m. on Avenida de Las Palmeras in Costa Teguise, although around two kilometers later, the itineraries of the two races separated and the times began to be counted. It should be remembered that the 53-kilometer race, the MC2Action, ran mainly through the municipalities of Teguise and Haría; while the Cegrisa Ultra, of 112 kilometers, touched the seven municipalities of the island.

The different trophies were presented by the Councilor for Youth and Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Migdalia Machín; the director of the Santa Rosa Sports Club, Félix Echevarría; and the councilors of Sports and Culture of the Teguise City Council, Echedey Eugenio and Olivia Duque, respectively.
