Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen has managed to chain three consecutive victories this Saturday in the Municipal de Tías with the important victory against one of the category's coconuts, Lobas Global Atac Oviedo (31-22), in a match corresponding to the twelfth day of the Women's Gold Honor Division.
Good match for the Tiñosa team, offering much improved performances in both parts of the court compared to what has been seen until this match. Two expulsions in the visiting team, in the first minutes, for fortuitous blows to the face, allowed the first advantages to the locals. In addition, Cristina Betancort had a good afternoon in her hands and with doses of skill from the corner put Puerto ahead (10-6, min. 15).
The Oviedo team tried to react with intensity and speed, seeking to reduce distances (11-8, min. 20). With ten minutes left for the break, Tati Masseu jumped onto the court and exhibited, as a letter of introduction in the match, a surface-to-air missile to the Asturian goal (13-9, min. 23).
It was not an oasis in the desert, Puerto del Carmen showed a different face and the stands began to believe in a victory against the third-placed team. Oviedo moved the defense forward, but the mixed defense proposed by the Asturians did not give Manolo Díaz the expected results (18-11, halftime).
Both squads came out somewhat tense in the second half with many errors in the pass and little effectiveness in front of the goal. Oviedo tried, but Made Cortez appeared under the Tiñosa sticks, who began to spread her wings (22-14, min. 10)
Puerto accelerated in attack and, for the first time in the match, reached the hopeful eleven-goal advantage (27-16, min. 15).
The final ten minutes were entered with good inertia. Juanmi Pérez began to make rotations and took the second unit to the Tías parquet. The wolves reduced the distance on the Tías scoreboard somewhat, but there was no time for more.
Very good first half in defense for Puerto del Carmen and very good second half in attack. Possibly the best match of Puerto del Carmen so far this season. If Juanmi Pérez's team is able to maintain this new rhythm, good afternoons are approaching for the Tiñosa team in Gold.
With this victory, Puerto del Carmen is in the middle of the table, in eighth position with eleven points and better inertia than the entire League except for the leader Zonzamas. Oviedo remains in third position in the standings with sixteen points, tied with the second-placed Bolaños.
Fernanda Luján Insfrán returned to her old ways and became the top scorer for the Tiñoseras and the match with seven goals. Also noteworthy are the six goals from Yuli Quevedo. In the Asturian ranks, Marta Da Silva scored five goals for her team.
Next Saturday, January 25, at 8:00 p.m., the Tiñoseras visit the leaders, Zonzamas, in San Bartolomé. Conejero derby in Gold at its best.
