The sports event “San Silvestre Ciudad de Arrecife 2021” held during the afternoon of this Friday, December 31, ended with the victory of Diana Freire Ferrero in the absolute women's category, and Manzicidor Xabat in the men's category, who were the fastest in covering the urban circuit designed for the occasion.
The race, which took place without any incidents to report, was a success of participation with almost four hundred athletes who painted the streets of the city in color a few hours before the end of 2021, also collaborating with magnificent social causes since the proceeds from the registrations were destined to the Association Protectora de Animales “Sara” and to those affected by the eruptions of the volcano of La Palma, whose memory was very present throughout this traditional sports event.
The women's category was dominated by the athlete from CDE Kalamos Las Rozas, Diana Freire Ferrero, with a time of 19.56 minutes, the second classified was Julie Murphy from the Lagan Valley AC club who invested 20.07 minutes in completing the 5 kilometer route, while the third place went to Sara Rivas Guerra, from the Bahía de Algeciras club, with a time of 20.25 minutes.
In the men's category, the winner was the athlete Manzisidor Xabat with a time of 15.22 minutes, followed by Daniel Bayón Leonardo from the Alusigma Peñota Dental club, who stopped the clock at 15.43 minutes; the third place on the podium went to Juan José Martín Vélez with a time of 15.59 minutes.

At the end of the test, in addition to the delivery of prizes to the first three classified, both in the female and male categories, each participant received their “finisher” medal at the finish line, certifying that they had completed the test.
