The first three matches of the season played at home, all of them held at the Tías Municipal Stadium, had ended in defeat for FC Puerto del Carmen. The Tiñoseras returned to the Puerto del Carmen Municipal Stadium on Saturday, after the replacement works of the synthetic turf, and achieved their first home victory of the season by defeating CD Peña de la Amistad by 6 to 4.
The first minutes of the match were tentative, although little by little FC Puerto del Carmen took control of the game. The incursions down the wing by Janet or Eva Sánchez created considerable danger for the defense of the Majorera team, and Peña de la Amistad was having many problems getting the ball out of their own half.
FC Puerto del Carmen took the lead in the 16th minute of the match. Janet was in charge of taking a corner kick and Nieves headed the ball into the back of the net. Just four minutes later, Janet broke down the right wing, the cross escaped goalkeeper Iria and Eva Sánchez was attentive to put her toe in to push the ball into the net.
CD Peña de la Amistad would manage to reduce the deficit in the middle of the first half. Dunia broke down the right side and beat goalkeeper Naza with a crossed shot. The locals, immediately after taking the ball from the center of the field, regained the two-goal advantage, with Nieves winning the back of the defense after a ball in depth and standing alone in the area to beat Iria.
The best minutes of Puerto del Carmen were being seen on the field, which earned them to increase the difference on the scoreboard. A clearance by Arima turned into a through ball for Kiara, standing inside the area and putting in the fourth goal. Before the break, Evelyn took advantage of a lapse in the local defense to score the second for her team, reaching the break with 4-2.
The visiting team took a step forward in the second half, having much more presence on the field and looking for direct play in set-piece actions. This is how the third goal of Peña de la Amistad came in the 72nd minute, with a free kick hung to the heart of the area and finished off by Gisela in the last instance.
As happened in the first half, FC Puerto del Carmen only took two minutes to put land in between again and recover the two-goal difference. Nieves was brought down inside the area when she was breaking down the right side, with the referee pointing out the maximum penalty. Georgia was in charge of executing the penalty to make it 5-3.
Peña de la Amistad was not willing to give up and continued looking for the goal that would get them back into the game. A goal that would come with ten minutes left and again after a set-piece action. A free kick hung in the heart of the area was finished off by Patricia, beating Naza.
In extra time came the goal that decided the match and gave peace of mind to the locals. Sara brought down a Puerto del Carmen player inside the area, cutting off a clear goalscoring opportunity and the referee pointed out the second penalty of the match. Georgia was in charge of executing the penalty, beating Iria again to make it 6-4.
