Incidents: Inaugural match of the 2006/2007 League in Group I of the 2nd division B in which Orientación Marítima debuted in the category and was witnessed by about 600 spectators. Isabel Martín Miss Lanzarote made the honorary kick-off and received a bouquet of flowers.
Comment: Orientación Marítima excited its fans with its first match in the category in which it was superior to UD Lanzarote, the rojillos did not offer the game they had developed in a good part of the preseason and could have suffered a more bulky result if the locals had been more successful in front of goal in the chances they created.
Machín's team could not find their place in the first minutes, which allowed the first two chances of the match to be for the visitors Yeray and Juanma, both with headers. Marítima began to feel comfortable on the field when it began to create chances by Maciot Dévora and Pedro Cruz.
The joy for the fans of Orientación Marítima came in the 23rd minute when a change of play by Santi Torres with a pass to the left was finished off by David Martín from afar to score. The situation became complicated for UD Lanzarote, which was almost absent at times in the game, a situation that worsened with the expulsion of Aarón in the 45th minute on his birthday, which forced Álvaro Pérez's team to play with one man less in the second half.
As soon as the second half started, the benches moved quickly, although Zamorano had already stayed in the locker room during the break, replaced by Enric Pi in UD Lanzarote. Only two minutes had passed when Quique had to leave the field injured and was replaced by Kámara, just five minutes later Nacho Castro left, replaced by Maikel Padrón. Álvaro Pérez then ordered the substitution of Sergio Alcolea, who left his place to Manu Hervás.
UD Lanzarote continued to try in the second half but the local defenders always won the game against Meca and company. The best opportunity for the rojillos was in the 72nd minute at the feet of Meca who shot the ball next to one of the posts.
The situation did not change much until the end where the second goal of Marítima was always closer than the equalizer for UD Lanzarote.
Rubén Rodríguez, who offered a spectacle on the field, was replaced in the 70th minute by Abraham, while in UD Lanzarote Juanma left in favor of Marcos Cabrera.
Good debut for Orientación Marítima, which offered a good image against a UD Lanzarote that will have to improve a lot in its game during the next few days.
