The Islote de la Fermina hosted once again the presentation of the Rally Isla de los Volcanes-Ciudad de Arrecife Trophy organized by CD. Evesport, which will be held this Friday and Saturday in Lanzarote, with 36 teams registered, including drivers of the stature of world champions Mads Ostberg and Diego Domínguez, the CERT champion Juan Carlos Quintana and the Lanzarote native Yeray Lemes. The first two are looking for their first victory in the "Volcanes", while the Canary Islanders already know what it is to win in the home race. The event was attended by a broad institutional representation headed by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, together with the general director of Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Francisco Pérez.
On behalf of the Island Council, the councilor of Sports Juan Monzón and the councilor of Classified Activities and Territorial Policy, Jesús Machín, also participated, whose work has been key for the event to meet all the requirements that make it possible, as emphasized by its own president, who began his speech of support to #RTIV23 commenting "my entire government team knew that for me to be here today, everything had to be previously approved and signed", in reference to the permits of the event that this year have been authorized earlier than ever. Oswaldo Betancort highlighted the importance of the event for a European island of sports and since the recent start of the mandate put the commitment on the table, in the sense of finding a path that can be improved over time and continue to strengthen the event as international, with the joint work of institutions, technicians and organizers.
On behalf of the City Council of the capital Arrecife were present the councilor of Tourism and Commerce, Ely Merino, together with the delegate in Sports, Juanjo López, who took the floor to show the pride of the city to host the rally one more year and, especially, in this 2023 that celebrates the 225th anniversary of its foundation.
Most of the town councils were represented in the event that gives the "starting signal" to the RTIV23. For Yaiza its mayor Oscar Noda and the councilor of Sports Angel Lago; the mayor of Tinajo Jesús Machín Duque; and the councilors of sports Sergio García (Tías), Alejandro Ramírez (Teguise) and Alexis Hernández (San Bartolomé). All celebrated that one more year the event continues to grow in every way and especially in the promotion of Lanzarote, in addition to wishing good luck to the participants and asking for due respect for the safety of the public and the Environment.
On behalf of the sponsors, Pello Cabrera, representing the Cabrera Medina de Lanzarote Group (CICAR and Orvecame), the main private sponsor of RTIV23, wished good luck to the participants and organizers.
And already in the sports part, attended the presentation the president of the FALP Miguel Angel Domínguez and the FIASCT, Francisco Negrín, the latter holding the representation of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation RFEDA, who had words of praise for the organization of Evesport and the important possibilities of the rally as an International FIA event and aspiring to enter the Spanish Cup CERT 2024.
Before finishing, the favorite drivers went on stage and gave their impressions about the event and Lanzarote, in addition to being very excited to participate in a rally with a special attraction, such as its sections and its volcanic landscapes. A singularity that helps to continue growing internationally and that is why the presence of the world champions Mads Ostberg-Patrik Barth and Diego Domínguez-Rogelio Peñate is justified, who will have the maximum opposition in the Canarians Yeray Lemes-Aitor Cambeiro and Juan Carlos Quintana-Yeray Mujica.
The turn of words was initiated by the president of the Organizing Committee of the CD. Evesport, José Víctor Rodríguez, who reviewed the entire development of the rally and the efforts that are being made to promote internationality, in addition to thanking all the collaborations, sponsorships and the involvement of institutions, mainly the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the city of Arrecife and the rest of the municipalities of the island where the rally will pass, without forgetting the Government of the Canary Islands through its sports and tourism agencies.
