Spectacular start to the competition for Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero in the Men's First Division of Handball. The Lanzarote team achieved their fourth victory of the season on Saturday night, after defeating Balonmano Delicias Valladolid by 28 to 23, completing a full set of victories in the first month of competition. Saturday's victory was based on the strong defense of the team trained by Jesús Casanova and the play down the wings, which opened up the Valladolid defense. A triumph that allows Chacón Lanzarote to jointly lead the Group B standings.
The first minutes of the match were tentative. Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero showed a game that was too rushed in attack, failing to complete their offensive plays. After a 2-0 start in favor of the locals, Delicias Valladolid easily tied the match and neither team was able to pull away on the scoreboard. A goal from Javi Negrín, culminating in a quick counterattack, put Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero ahead on the scoreboard in the 12th minute (5-4).
As the minutes passed, Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero began to find gaps in the Delicias Valladolid defense. Gaps that came thanks to the fast play of wingers Ruymán López and Javi Negrín. Luis Morín was not having his game, missing several inclusions down the wing. With a 4-0 run, San José pulled away on the scoreboard and forced the visiting coach to call the first timeout (9-5).
Balonmano Delicias Valladolid improved their game and managed to close the gap on the scoreboard. Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero got stuck in attack and Jesús Casanova did not want to give the visitors room to react, calling a timeout with the score at 11-9. After the timeout, a 3-0 run in favor of the Lanzarote team allowed them to go into the break with a five-goal advantage (14-9).
Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero did not let up in the first minutes of the second half, achieving a 5-2 run in the first ten minutes of play. A run that allowed the locals to increase the differences and have a comfortable advantage on the scoreboard. The public who gathered at the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion enjoyed the game that their team was developing. With the score at 20-14, Balonmano Delicias called a new timeout.
The Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero defense was being impenetrable for the visitors and in attack the offensive actions were resolved with flying colors. Balonmano Delicias Valladolid put a 4:2 defense on the court, making a mixed marking of Javi Negrín and Nelson Espino. A defense that allowed the visiting team to get within three goals in some phases of the second half. With nine minutes remaining, Jesús Casanova called a timeout to redirect the situation (24-21).
Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero got back to work and managed to seal the match despite the attacks of Balonmano Delicias Valladolid. With the score at 28-23. A triumph that allows the Lanzarote team to share the lead of Group B of the Men's State First Division of Handball together with RGC Covadonga. In the next match, Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero visits BM Nava, a team that has only conceded one draw this season and occupies third position.
