CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife premiered in the Guerreras Iberdrola League with a defeat, falling clearly against Caja Rural Aula Valladolid, and demonstrating that there is still much work ahead to grow as a team in a demanding competition. The Valladolid team showed greater experience, reaching an eleven-goal advantage in the second half. San José Obrero managed to make up the result in the final minutes.
Caja Rural Aula Valladolid was quick to take control of the game from the start. Savina Bergara completed a 0-3 partial, forcing Alfredo Rodríguez to request a time-out when only eight minutes of play had elapsed (1-4). After the instructions from the bench, the goals of Gema Trujillo and Thais Fermo, both from the wing, put the team in the game, but it was only a mirage.
CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was penalized by the loss of balls. Sandra Monteagudo on the counterattack, and the goals of Amaia Garibay and Monteagudo herself, after two steals in defense, raised the advantage to five goals (4-9). In the final minutes of the first half, Savina Bergara from the pivot continued to open the gap and at halftime the result was 8 to 14.
In the second half, the defensive intensity of Caja Rural Aula Valladolid was key to mature the match at will and not give options to CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife. The locals did not have the necessary offensive fluidity to overcome the 6:0 defense of the rival, and the visitors in attack circulated the ball to always find the best option for the launch.
Before the equator of the second half, Valseka Lovera and Amaia Garibay were responsible for establishing the maximum difference until that moment (11-19). Caja Rural Aula Valladolid took advantage of the double exclusion suffered by the locals, to raise the income to eleven goals (15-26). Only in the final minutes, CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was able to make up the result, mounting quick counterattacks to catch the visiting defense unguarded.
With the score of 22 to 27, the match came to an end, with CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife suffering the defeat in the opening match of the Guerreras Iberdrola League. With no time for rest, on Wednesday there is a new league day, with San José Obrero visiting Conservas Orbe Zendal Balonmano Porriño.
