The Lanzarote crew of Código Cero finished in fourth position in the Iberdrola Women's National Sailing League after the last scoring event for the circuit that took place in Baiona last weekend. This is a very commendable result since, despite the adversities and not having external support, based on effort, sacrifice and know-how, they have allowed the conejera boat to finish in this position in its first experience in this competition.
The competition came to an end after the last scoring event for the circuit was held at the Monte Real Club de Yates in Baiona, before that, the boats had participated in Abra (Women’s Sailing Cup), Alicante (Tabarca Vela) and Palma de Mallorca (Copa del Rey MAPFRE).
The protagonists of the event were the sea storm and the wind. After a long wait, the storm decreased in intensity and during the afternoon of Saturday it allowed the only two races of the day to be held, which would later be the ones that would be held during the championship held in Galician lands. On Sunday, the storm did not subside and after exceeding the time limit for departure established in the regatta instructions, the championship concluded.
The performance of the Código Cero club in the championship did not start off on the right foot, a bad start meant that they were in a very delayed position. However, the strategy carried out by the boat allowed a great comeback, reaching second place halfway through the race, behind the powerful J80 Dorsia Coviran of Natalia Vía Dufresne, who would later be the winner both in the race and in the general classification. A strong gust of wind hit the Lanzarote crew, destroying their sails and reducing them for the second race of the day.

After the disappointment, the girls were optimistic, managing to save a fourth place in this trophy that in turn placed them in fourth position in the final classification. This result is a great dose of motivation, both for the crew and for the club, who say that they are “focused on continuing to train hard, to achieve better sports results if possible for our islands in the next competitions”, they also point out that they hope to have the possibility of finding a sponsor who supports the effort made and continues to boost the sails for a brighter future.
