At 07:00 hours a new edition of Ironman Lanzarote began. Nearly 1,500 triathletes are participating in this year's edition, which represents a new record of entries. Many of the participants have completed the swimming segment, with a distance of 3.8 kilometers, and are facing the bicycle segment, undoubtedly one of the toughest of the race.

The participants have encountered a cloudy morning and forecasts indicate that the north wind will be the main protagonist of the bicycle segment. One of the most spectacular moments of the race is the start, where the triathletes jump into the water. Moments of nerves and tension, which dissipate as the kilometers pass.

The race is being led by the Germans Christopher Menk and Timo Bracht, who were the first to emerge from the water, with very little difference from the rest of the participants. Gregorio Cáceres and Nicholas Peter Ward have come out of the water in good positions and are facing the bicycle segment with guarantees.

In women, Rachel Joyce is the leader of Ironman Lanzarote. The British woman with bib number 31 was the first to come out of the water and in the bicycle segment she is increasing the differences with respect to the rest of the participants.

The triathletes are currently facing the 180 kilometers of the bicycle segment. Forecasts indicate that this year will be one of the toughest due to the force with which the wind is blowing in the northern part of the island.
