All the matches played this season by Archi 8 and CD Loyola have been marked by equality. An equality that was not going to be missing on Sunday midday during the development of the final of the Canary Islands Second Division Men's Basketball Championship, a competition held during the weekend in Lanzarote. CD Loyola won in the grand final by 64-66, proclaiming themselves champions of the Canary Islands and achieving promotion to the First Regional Basketball Division.
The first quarter of the final was dominated by Archi 8, in the first few minutes in which the defenses prevailed over the attacks. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 20 to 14 in favor of Archi 8. CD Loyola reacted in the second quarter, going into the break with a 13-point advantage (28-41). An advantage that CD Loyola managed in the third quarter of the match, although little by little the Salesian team was reducing the difference.
The end of the match would be heart-stopping. Aarón Calero put Archi 8 ahead on the scoreboard with less than a minute to go (63-61), with Néstor Tejera tying the game with two free throws. A three-pointer by Álvaro Melián with nine seconds left in the game gave the victory to CD Loyola. Archi 8 missed the last two shots to the basket and with the result of 64 to 66 the match came to an end.
In the fight for third and fourth place, Guacia Soluciones Informáticas Conejero took third position by beating Valsequillo 59-86. The great success in the outside shot was once again key to the victory of Guacia Soluciones Informática Conejero, with the Lanzarote team always ahead on the scoreboard. The fifth position of the Canary Islands Second Division Men's Championship went to Cicar Tegueste, winning 69-66 against Náutico Kia Tenerife.
At the conclusion of the grand final match, the trophy presentation took place, an event that was presided over by Manuel Gómez, president of the Canary Islands Basketball Federation. He was accompanied by Josué Pérez, president of the Lanzarote Island Basketball Delegation.
