CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen loses in Santander after a second half to forget

CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen lost this Friday in the fourth round of the Guerreras Iberdrola League in their visit to the court of the La Albericia Pavilion against Uneatlántico Pereda (24-21).

With sixteen losses in the second half, everything achieved in the first thirty minutes was lost. The team came out in both halves quite lost and took almost fifteen minutes to put the tables back on the scoreboard (8-9, min.20). With a notable improvement, they reached the break with an advantage on the scoreboard (12-13) after Mary Sánchez stood out in the scoring facet with six goals in the first half hour of play.

But the second half would completely change the inertia. With the local defense 5:1 focused on Mary Sánchez, the rest of the team did not know how to adapt to the new match and, despite a more than remarkable performance by Made Cortez in the Conejera goal, the excessive number of turnovers ended up sentencing Miguel Ángel Lemes' pupils.

Despite everything, the Tiñoseras reached the end of the match with some option of getting closer on the scoreboard (22-18, min.55) but the turnovers would continue until the end, condemning Puerto del Carmen.

With this defeat, painful because CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen considered it the first match with one of the teams in "their league", it leaves the Lanzarote team as the only team in group A of the Guerreras Iberdrola League that has not yet tasted victory.

In the attack of the Tiñosero team, which today was dressed in pink, only Mary Sánchez can be highlighted with seven goals (six in the first half) and Keyla Hernández with four goals.

For the technical director of the Tiñoseras, Miguel Ángel Lemes, it was a "match with many game and score alternatives. We started hesitantly but, little by little, we picked up the pace and went into defense and goal, and we were able to go to the break with a one-goal advantage. The beginning of the second half started badly since we did not take advantage of a numerical superiority and their change of defensive system to 5:1 blocked our attack. We had no decision in the attacks and we added many turnovers that they took advantage of to go on the scoreboard. A shame because we had prepared the match well but in the end I think we lacked mental freshness and efficiency on the right wing. We have to continue to smooth out aspects and be aware that to win we have to be good for 60 minutes. The positive thing is that we conceded fewer goals than we are used to but we still have a lot to improve", concluded the Tiñosero coach.

The next match of CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will take place next Saturday, October 24, at 5:00 p.m. in the Tías Municipal Pavilion against Zubileta Evolution Balonmano Zuazo.
