CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen won this Saturday at the Municipal Pavilion of Porriño against Rubensa Balonmano Porriño (24-32) in a postponed match corresponding to the seventh round of the season in Group A of the Women's Silver Division.
The 'tiñoseras' thus fulfill the necessary tasks to get fully involved in the fight for the top spots in the standings. They have strung together seven positive results between the League and the Queen's Cup, and now, with the same matches played as the rest of the teams, they are in second place with seventeen points, tied with third place, Rodríguez Cleba, and only behind Balonmano San José Obrero Lanzarote, the undefeated leader of the group.
Although the match was not fluid, the victory was never in danger for CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen, which in the first ten minutes of the match already achieved a lead of three or four goals that would be maintained until the final whistle. With the Chilean international Made Cortez defending the goal for the 'tiñoseras', the team led by Miguel Ángel Lemes was able to face a cold and convoluted match.
In the scoring facet of Rubensa Balonmano Porriño, Marta Da Silva stood out with six goals. In the ranks of the 'tiñoseras', Keyla Hernández uncorked the jar of essences to score nine goals in Galicia, well accompanied by Mary Sánchez with seven and Rosa Álvarez with five goals scored.
Next weekend, CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will play away from home again. They travel to Gijón to face Club Balonmano Gijón, a team that is second to last with only one victory in ten league games. The match will be played on Saturday, December 1, at 12 noon at the Municipal Pavilion of La Tejerona in Gijón with José Antonio Bracamonte Morcillo and Andrés Delgado Malagón as referees of the match.
For Miguel Ángel Lemes, the match in Galicia was "a cold match where we didn't display our game. Defensively, they were doing quite a bit of damage with their double pivot play, and in attack, we didn't know how to attack their 3:3 defense, but even so, we arrived with a five-goal advantage at halftime and controlled the score. In the second half, we distanced ourselves a bit more, attacking their defense somewhat better and defending much more. Also, Madeleine started to contribute in goal, and that made us have a comfortable match. In short, an important victory that puts us in promotion positions, and now we have to maintain that privileged situation," concluded the coach of the 'tiñosero' team, who is already sleeping in the second position of the standings and faces the rest of the league championship with a good face.
