CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen was defeated this Saturday at the Municipal de Tías against CB San José Obrero (14-28) in a match corresponding to the twenty-second
matchday of the Women's Division of Honor Gold.
The defeat against the capital team left a taste far removed from the lost but very close match played by both teams in the first round at the Municipal de Titerroy (28-26).
Juanmi Pérez's team didn't have their day. In the derby, two undeniable issues came together: a Puerto del Carmen with the goal of permanence achieved and a San José fighting for the places of honor still. Clear as day, David Betancort's team prevailed from the 1st minute of the match.
To make matters worse, Dely Leiva saw the red card when the players hadn't even started to sweat. More than complicated start for the aurinegras who scored their first goal through Yuyi Insfrán already in the seventh minute of the match (1-5). Puerto tried, but something was not right. Juanmi Pérez was forced to stop the match (2-7, min. 10).
David Betancort gave oxygen to his team with a battery of changes right in the fifteenth minute of the game (3-9). Despite the replacements, San José continued to dominate the score and the game. The defensive intensity of the arrecifeñas prevailed with solvency in the first half (6-17).
The tiñoseras came out better in the second half, although improving what was seen in the first half did not seem very difficult. Perhaps wounded in their pride by the score, they achieved a small partial in favor (10-18, min.6).
When it seemed that the forces were equalizing despite the great difference on the scoreboard, the referees showed a second red to the locals, in this case to Brenda Torres who left the Tías park with the same face of surprise and dejection as Dely Leiva. Things were getting even more complicated for the locals (11-21, min.13).
To all the above was added the good work of Irene Sánchez in the San José goal along with Correia, very intense on both sides of the court. The match, as expected, entered a phase of drowsiness with continuous failures in both squads (12-23, min. 20).
The last ten minutes of the match were not very useful. A somewhat disappointing Puerto del Carmen in the penultimate derby of the season and with the goal of permanence in the pocket and a San José that continues to add in the path of its promotion goal.
Miriam Páez became the top scorer of the match and her team with eight goals. In the aurinegras ranks, only Fernanda Insfrán stood out in the scoring facet with six goals. It is noteworthy that only five tiñoseras players scored while the arrecifeñas, in a much more choral scoring, did so up to eleven players.
San José remains second in the standings while the tiñoseras are placed tenth after this defeat. San José already played the match of the twenty-third day in March, so they will not play again until May 10 with the visit to Bolaños. For its part, Puerto del Carmen will visit the court of Bm Ikasa Boadilla in Madrid next week.
