Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote continues with a firm step towards promotion after signing a sweeping victory against Grupo USA H. Mislata (31-13). On a night where everything went perfectly, the team led by Juan José Rivera dominated from start to finish and demonstrated its solidity in all facets of the game.
From the beginning, Zonzamas showed its ambition with an explosive start led by Gabi Romero, Gleinys Reyes and Brenda Roger. Mislata, overwhelmed and imprecise, was quickly against the ropes with a 6-2 in the 10th minute that forced their coach, Sonia Rodríguez, to request a time-out. However, the visitor's reaction never came, and as the minutes passed, the Lanzarote team found even more fluidity in their offensive game.
A penalty transformed by Gleinys Reyes after a foul on Irene Botella raised the advantage to 13-5, and Brenda Roger, in a state of grace, signed the 16-6 in the 25th minute. With an impenetrable defense and an inspired Valentina Menucci under the sticks, Zonzamas went to halftime with a resounding 18-6, leaving the game practically decided.
Mislata tried to react in the second half with a more aggressive defense, but Zonzamas gave no margin for surprise. Brenda Roger continued to punish from the wing and, with the score 23-8 in the 40th minute, the game was completely
settled. Despite a good partial from Mislata (26-12, min. 45), the locals did not let up and, with rotations on the court, sealed the final 31-13.
With this victory, Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote will face the great island derby next weekend against CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife, second classified. A key duel that will be played in the Titerroy Pavilion and that can bring the Lanzarote team even closer to promotion. In addition, the day left a positive balance for the team, as their direct pursuers fell in their respective matches, thus extending Zonzamas' lead in the standings to seven points.
