The Lanzarote natives Aroa Merino and José Carlos Hernandez have been proclaimed winners of the tenth edition of the Lanzarote Wine Run, which once again toured one of the most spectacular natural landscapes of the Island of Volcanoes: La Geria. The race, held during the morning of this Sunday with two starting points: Bodegas La Florida (San Bartolomé) and the Volcán del Cuervo (Tinajo), is part of the tenth edition of the Lanzarote Wine Run & Traditional Cusine organized by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through its departments of Food Sovereignty and Economic Promotion, managed by the councilors Antonio Morales (CC) and Ángel Vázquez (PP) respectively, by the Regulatory Council of the Designation of 'Vinos de Lanzarote', Ayuntamiento de Yaiza, Club La Santa and Saborea Lanzarote.

As usual, the winners of the Race have taken their weight in wine as a prize and, as a novelty, they also received an endowment of jams equivalent to their body weight that each one must donate to an NGO on the island. José Carlos Hernández crossed the finish line after 01:28:11 of the race. For her part, Aroa Merino was the first woman to reach the Recinto Rerial after covering the 23 kilometers of the course in 1:31:56.

Albi Cedrés Viñoly - just over two minutes from the champion - and Matías Ojeda Montesdeoca - almost three minutes - completed the men's podium of the long race; while Mary James - just over 13 minutes from the winner - and Susan McDonald - more than 17 minutes - did the same in the women's category. The short race of 12.7 kilometers had Jachinso Hernández (46:23) as the winner in the men's category, followed by Iván Molinero (46:54) and Dailos Curbelo (46:56).
