San Bartolomé CF was once again left without reward away from home after falling 1-0 to Arucas CF at the Manuel Pablo Municipal Stadium in Bañaderos, in a match corresponding to the 19th round of the Third RFEF. A match marked by equality and few scoring chances, which ended up being decided in the final minutes with a controversial penalty in favor of the local team.
From the initial whistle, San Bartolomé was well positioned on the field, containing Arucas' attempts and seeking to generate danger through quick transitions down the wing. The match unfolded under a very similar script, with little offensive production from both teams and a very contested game in the center of the field.
Throughout the first 45 minutes, neither team managed to generate clear chances, reflecting the absolute equality that prevailed in the first half.
The second half continued with the same dynamic, with an organized and defensively solid San Bartolomé, but without finding the necessary clarity in the final meters to disturb the rival goal.
When everything pointed to a fair draw for what was seen on the field, the action arrived that ended up deciding the match. With ten minutes remaining, the referee pointed out a very dubious penalty in the batatera area, a decision that generated protests from the San Bartolomé players. The penalty was converted by Arucas, who took advantage of one of their few dangerous arrivals to take the three points.
Despite the blow received, San Bartolomé tried to react in the final stretch, having several free kicks close to the edge of the area, but without success in the execution. With the 1-0 on the scoreboard, the team led by José Labrador was once again left without reward away from home and continues to fight to get out of the bottom of the standings.
After this result, San Bartolomé is already focusing its attention on the next great challenge of the season, in which they will receive UD Lanzarote in an exciting derby from Conejero. A duel of maximum rivalry where the batatero team will seek to return to the path of victory and offer a joy to its fans at the Pedro Espinosa "Colón".
