Vocation of service, loyalty, honesty, integrity, ability, sacrifice, work, altruism, exemplary behavior, austerity, efficiency, transparency, collaboration and commitment are great words that are included among the principles of the ethical codes of the various political forces that try to be elected to govern in the next municipal elections on May 26.
What do these words mean? To what extent are candidates willing to comply with these principles? After almost twenty political forces with their corresponding electoral programs to govern the institutions of our island, I have not read in any line any proposal aimed at eliminating the "exclusive dedications" that public officials receive.
What could be more honorable, altruistic, collaborative and honest than renouncing the salary obtained from public office to pass it on to the general interest of the institution, also knowing the large number of proposals that all the electoral programs of these political forces have.
On the other hand, what I have observed is the existence of bicephaly or, in other words, a few candidates who head more than one electoral list. Why is this happening? What are they looking for? Do they comply with their own code of ethics?
Because I don't want to think that they are looking for a "position" and because value is needed, let's think about Lanzarote.
