The indecision is over

December 14 2015 (11:51 WET)

There are only a few days left for the general elections, an election that will mark a before and after in the recent political history of our country, in a democratic process in which it seems that the rules of the game have changed and we are no longer governed by a two-party system but new formations have entered the fray.

However, it seems that there are old habits that do not change. There are still many people who, unfortunately, still think that in a general election it is only useful to vote for state parties. Some are interested in talking about new airs in politics but do not want the wind to stir the system too much. Both the so-called "old" parties and the "emerging" ones speak of four decisive formations because it is not good for them to see that there are more, and some of them are very strong.

The polls say that at the moment there are forty percent of undecided voters. They are people tired of the old ways of the usual parties and also fearful of the rejections that the new ones are showing.

These four parties are trying to deceive them with supposed "decisive debates" in which there is no other alternative, because this game only goes with them.

But there is. Coalición Canaria has already demonstrated a great experience of government, in regional, island and local administrations and also at the national level when we have been given the opportunity. This experience of Government in the Islands has been marked by no less than four presidents of our formation (Manuel Hermoso, Román Rodríguez, Adán Martín and Paulino Rivero) who have governed uninterruptedly in the last two decades (now there is Fernando Clavijo who is also one of ours) and with no case of corruption that has tarnished his management. Can other parties that have had similar quotas of power say the same? It is clear that no. And despite the experience, we still have the illusion and the desire of a beginner who is aware that they have not yet been allowed to demonstrate what they are capable of. We have all the good of the old and the new.

We know that we can make clear in Madrid what we want for our land and what needs to be done to achieve it. Therefore, I ask you to value our proposal; do not be carried away by the understandable impulse to punish those who have been doing things wrong for so many years, voting for parties that will hardly improve the situation of our land, because they have already shown that they neither know nor want to. Do not vote out of spite either; with the intuition that the new ones are not better, but they represent something different.

There is another possible change; the one we propose all the candidates of Coalición Canaria to the Congress of Deputies and the Senate. We are necessary so that once and for all we have a presence strong enough so that they can no longer ignore us.

In Coalición Canaria we ask for your trust, the trust of all those who want to "Fight for the Canary Islands", "Fight for you"; the trust of all those who know that "The time of the Canary Islands" has finally arrived.
