In light of the lack of truth in a statement sent to the media by the main opposition party of Teguise, I feel obliged to present the facts from the truth, without seeking to deceive or manipulate the residents of Teguise.
When good initiatives are presented for the municipality of Teguise, from whatever party, they have been approved, and if not, the reason why it is not possible to approve the measure has been justified, in most cases because work is already being done on that initiative. In fact, initiatives approved by the Government Group of Teguise can be observed that have been brought to the City Council plenary session by PSOE, Nueva Canarias and Primero Teguise. That of voting against systematically because it comes from one party or another is false.
Having clarified the previous point, it is reasonable to think that due to the unfavorable situation that the residents of La Graciosa have with respect to the rest of the municipality, such as the distance and the economic and time effort involved in traveling to Lanzarote, an initiative has been presented to move at least once a year an ordinary plenary session to the island of La Graciosa, and in this way be able to involve all the residents interested in attending from the eighth island.
What is striking about the voting of this motion or initiative by the opposition parties is that, because it comes from me or my party, the interests and acronyms of the parties are put before the interests or benefits of the people of La Graciosa. On these occasions I believe that it is when we should all realize and do an exercise of reflection and observe that those who "warn" you or scare you that you should be careful or even "afraid" with the new ones, because with them you are going to lose your rights, it is precisely the other way around, and it is "they" who vote against your benefits to obtain electoral gain or have a press release to make. "They" always try to win, even if it means you lose.
And please no, do not be fooled, my initiative is not a copy of another party's initiative, it is simply using common sense. It was attempted in the August plenary session that the initiative presented by the PSOE be modified, and instead of that "rotating" plenary session that they proposed for all the localities of the municipality, it would become only for that transfer to La Graciosa, but the PSOE itself preferred that it be rejected before it was approved for the benefit of the people of La Graciosa.
The justification we gave, for which the modification was requested in the August plenary session, was because the deployment of resources and personnel is unnecessary to simply get closer to localities that are 10 or 15 minutes from the Villa de Teguise, but that involves a much greater public expense and a waste of time for the City Council staff that would mean losing practically the entire day in the plenary session, plus the transport of the technical equipment and materials that record and transmit the plenary sessions. I think it is logical or common sense not to waste public money except on what is necessary or essential, I am sure that if the idea had been raised by me or a colleague, we would have been "attacked" with the waste of public spending that that would entail.
In addition to the absurd justification of not voting in favor of a beneficial initiative such as having at least one ordinary plenary session a year in La Graciosa, they also transmitted to the media a confusing and false message about another initiative that, on this occasion, was raised by the PSOE itself, and that the Government Group formed by CC, PP and VOX voted against. It is about communicating to the opposition the judgments of which the City Council of Teguise is a part. Why should a judgment that is published in the Transparency Portal be communicated personally to each of the members of the opposition? Do these people know the difference between a final judgment and one in which an appeal is still possible? Why should it be communicated to them and not to all the residents of Teguise? The answer is easy, everything can be consulted by everyone in the Transparency Portal.
In addition, it is not a major grievance to go to the City Council and make the consultation by the opposition, I did it before being part of the Government Group, and I think it is a measure that we should all take, to be in constant communication with the reality of the City Council and not be isolated presuming things that are not.
Basically, it has been voted against duplicating the work already done by the City Council workers, since once they do the work of publishing in the Transparency Portal the content of the municipal body and the judgments of which it is a part, anyone can see it, including them. I understand that it is about doing politics and in this case doing opposition, but at least, the legitimate thing is to do an opposition faithful to the truth. Suggesting false messages is just a clear example of twisting reality. All the technicians and staff of the City Council work for and for the inhabitants of the municipality and not for the acronyms of those who form the government, because every four years those acronyms can change, but the municipal staff does not, and the work they do day after day is exemplary. This government, and the different parties that make it up, always work respecting the rules and the constitution, unlike other parties that flirt with the possibility of undermining it with amnesties in order to remain in power.
