There are specific moments that absolutely link the destiny of a people. The elections of June 26 are undoubtedly a unique opportunity to choose the right path and not make a historical mistake with consequences difficult to foresee but not good. We have plenty of examples, we don't have to look far back in time to see the consequences of similar processes, with the same authors, in Venezuela or utopian situations, which have led to corrals and losses of more than 25% in pensions, as in Greece.
Many times telling the truth, assuming the problems and proposing solutions in a realistic way is not the easiest thing or what sells the most. But that is what has been done: laying the foundations for the recovery of a country. Achieving sustainable financing and, without a doubt, worthy of admiration at an international level; ensuring that with moderate economic growth, but the highest in Europe, jobs continue to be created and pensions increased. Not like others, who always end up the same, with increasingly long queues at the INEM at the end of their mandates.
But the threat now is even greater, if possible. If the past crisis has ruined the dreams of many families who acquired properties, we have managed to alleviate evictions with suspension measures, as well as with laws protecting mortgage debtors and the second chance law. Now we are gambling on whether or not to be a State of Law, to have or not to have shortages or, who knows, even worse things. We have examples and reality often surpasses fiction.
Faced with this situation, from the Popular Party we see ourselves as the only viable option.
The PSOE, or rather its candidate, since in that party there are still many sensible people who suffer with what they see, is not a guarantee of anything at this time. In order to govern, they are capable of catapulting those who do not publicly respect them or will do the same with those who think differently from them.
A State of Law must also respect a minimum sphere of freedom for the human being to develop his personality. And in this, as we already know, communism does not have very good experiences.
Ciudadanos in this framework has little to say, apart from being a vote that is sold as neutral or a wildcard against what was stated on 20D, has already demonstrated with its actions where it is located. And the nationalist parties have even less to say in this current context.
We propose to continue on the path of employment, with the horizon of 20 million people working, guaranteeing pensions, adapting the educational system to the needs of the current labor market and with a clear social vocation. We believe in people and we are going to focus our efforts on the weakest part of society, so that the recovery reaches everyone.
There is much to be done, but we are on the right track.
By Salvador Martínez, candidate of the Popular Party to Congress
