The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, celebrates that the city of Arrecife has more investment capacity to continue modernizing the city's neighborhoods with the increase in the City Council's general budgets for this 2025 that exceed 100 million euros.

The mayor, who is also directly responsible for the Budget Management Unit, reports that on July 2, after the official announcement in the BOP (Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas), the budget modification with the annex of 24,641,006.73 euros from treasury surpluses has come into effect. With this increase, Arrecife's annual accounts for this 2025 exceed 100 million euros. To the almost 75 million approved last March, this modification is added, exceeding 100 million euros, with special investment in the modernization of the neighborhoods through the Department of Public Works, the mayor remarks.

Yonathan de León takes stock, through his profiles on social networks, of this first part of his term as mayor of the capital of Lanzarote. On July 7, 2023, de León Machín was proclaimed the youngest mayor in the history of Arrecife.

This Monday, coinciding with the festivity of the patron saint of Lanzarote, San Marcial del Rubicón, Yonathan de León shares his reflection and assessment in this second year as mayor of Arrecife, already in the middle of the municipal term.

De León Machín highlights that "I am celebrating two years as mayor of Arrecife. Exactly two years ago today I experienced this moment of being proclaimed mayor of the city where I was born 41 years ago. And in life we are presented with crossroads that we had not imagined. And one of those crossroads presented itself when I had the honor of being mayor of Arrecife," he shares with his more than 22,000 followers on the networks.

"For me, it is still an honor to be the youngest mayor in the history of the city, and to move this city forward with the support of the Government group, and that of all the residents of Arrecife. When I received the baton of command of the city, I announced that my priority would focus on the neighborhoods. Time, and all of you, have seen that what I promised, I am fulfilling. The advances are in sight of everyone and Arrecife, together with its neighborhoods, looks to the future with more hope," Yonathan de León remarks in this assessment.

In his message, the capital's mayor shares with his followers that "in this intense and fruitful half of the term we have carried out many projects, and many others are already ready to be tendered and launched. I know that we have a lot of work ahead of us, there is still much to do in Arrecife."

"Our city - continues Yonathan de León - has great challenges for this 21st century. Responding to all the needs requires that we have marked the best course: construction of social housing, such as the ones we already have underway, and putting land for 1500 protected homes with the new Supplementary Plan. Improve public transport with the new buses, and those that have already been purchased. The renovation of about 150 streets in the neighborhoods of Arrecife with new asphalt pavement. Modernization of playgrounds and public spaces, or the construction of new sports facilities in the neighborhoods, with more than 5 million euros in investment."

And he already anticipates that the reopening of the Argana Sports Hall, a work that he "is proud to unblock" and launch the action that allows the legalization and opening to the public "is scheduled for these coming weeks".

The mayor has shown the compass that he follows "from the first day marks continue to be close to each of you, listen to you and continue working so that Arrecife continues to transform into the city and capital that we all dream of".

Yonathan de León appreciates the messages and support he receives daily from the citizens. "Every day, and today in a special way, I greatly value the affection, encouragement and strength that everyone gives me so that every day Arrecife changes for the better, and we achieve it together. I continue with the drive and strength that you show me every day. Thank you! We have a lot of work ahead of us for these next two years of term," he concluded his message on the networks.
