The Yaiza City Council sent to the General Directorate of Infrastructure and Tourist Quality of the Canary Islands Government three projects that the Administration presided over by Óscar Noda considers of "maximum priority" in order to the integral renovation of the central area of the tourist town of Playa Blanca.

Highlights the proposal of modernization of the Avenida Marítima in the section between the Port and the point that separates the hotels Playa Dorada and Barceló, an action valued at 5.2 million euros that aims to adapt the promenade to the current and future needs of the resident and tourist population.

"The passage of the years leaves its mark and more in an avenue located next to the sea that supports daily the transit of hundreds of pedestrians. In several sections the deterioration is notorious so we must change the appearance of this space, with the collaboration of terraces and locals, if we want to project the image of a quality destination, especially if we are betting on the mooring of cruises," says the mayor.

The project defines the necessary works for the change of pavement and urban furniture of the Avenida Marítima and solve shortcomings such as the lack of shade and rest areas, which especially affects the elderly and users with reduced mobility. The intervention is planned in phases to cause less inconvenience.

The Councilor for Public Works of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, details that "the project aims at the renovation of public service networks, repair of stone walls and deteriorated railings, as well as the replacement of lighting in poor condition and installation of a new pedestrian pavement and functional and aesthetically attractive urban furniture. It is a project with forceful actions along the route that also provides viewpoints and spaces to promote sports and culture."

As an addendum to the project, Yaiza also considers improvements in the sanitation network in the section that runs along the town's beach.

Jaime Quesada Street and Papagayo Avenue

Apart from Avenida Marítima, Yaiza also considers a intervention in Jaime Quesada street, the street that connects the roundabout at the entrance to the town and Limones street, and another action in Avenida Papagayo, including modernization works in Plaza del Carmen.

Óscar Noda points out that "it is necessary to carry out accessibility works complying with modern standards, create safe and inclusive pedestrian itineraries and renovate all obsolete infrastructure. These are ambitious projects, but we have to be ambitious so as not to be left behind."

The intervention project in Jaime Quesada street demands an investment of 1.9 million, while that of Avenida Papagayo and its surroundings reaches 2.5 million.
