The Yaiza City Council has made public this Tuesday that the Civil Protection volunteer Natanael Cabrera, who is being investigated for the alleged falsification of his driver's license, was removed from "his responsibilities" on March 30. This was stated by the Consistory in a statement, after La Voz de Lanzarote published that the Civil Guard is investigating whether Cabrera could have committed a crime of document forgery. In the statement, the Consistory explains that the dismissal occurred on Wednesday of last week, after the General Directorate of Traffic confirmed that "said person lacked a driver's license".
The Civil Guard confirmed that it was investigating this young man for an alleged crime of document forgery after verifying that, to access the Civil Protection group, he had given the City Council a copy of his alleged license, despite the fact that in the DGT database it appears that he lacks a driver's license. In this regard, the City Council states in its statement that "already on March 16, the volunteer was required to provide the original of the current vehicle circulation permit and the certificate from the Provincial Traffic Headquarters that proves that he obtained it within a maximum period of five days, which never happened".
A day earlier, on March 15, the San Borondón party, which was the one who reported the events to the Civil Guard, had publicly denounced that this volunteer was allegedly driving Civil Protection vehicles without a license. Also that day, the City Council reported that this volunteer had informed him that he would take legal action against the party for an accusation that he claimed was false and showed the image of that license that is now investigating whether it was false. In its new press release, the City Council states this Tuesday that "even before this requirement, Cabrera was ordered", "preventively", to "refrain from driving any vehicle until said file was clarified".
The southern Corporation also emphasizes in the statement this Tuesday that "the City Council actively collaborates with the investigation being carried out by the Civil Guard, providing all the documentation that said volunteer provided at the time, so that it can be clarified by the competent authority if the affected party has committed any type of irregularity". Finally, the Consistory "specifies that this person performed tasks on a voluntary basis and without financial remuneration, as is the case with all members of Civil Protection of Yaiza".
