The workers of the company "Limpieza y Transportes Pedro Santana", which is in charge of garbage collection in the municipality of Yaiza, resorted again to strike on Wednesday and Thursday of last week, to denounce a new delay in the payment of their payrolls.
Once again, the City Council has not made the payment to the concessionaire company, so it has not been able to pay the salaries to the workers. Finally, and after the negotiation of the firm's lawyer with the City Council officials, the employees returned to work last Friday, although still pending collection.
According to the union delegate of UGT, William Barrera, the City Council asked the workers to resume their work as soon as possible, pointing out that this would also advance the payment. "We will work trusting that the payment will be made, but the money is the primary part and if there is none, there will probably be new strikes," warns Barrera.
