The Yaiza City Council has published this Monday the specifications of two tenders in which it will invest close to one million euros to rehabilitate two sports spaces in Playa Blanca. One of them is destined to the modernization of the indoor soccer field in the town center, with a base budget of 547,000 euros, and the other to the conditioning of a disused sports area located in the urban area of San Marcial del Rubicón, where about 431,000 euros will be invested.
"We are the most investing city council in Lanzarote and we demonstrate it again by allocating one million euros to the renovation of two leisure facilities to also offer a more pleasant meeting point for young people and adults and help enhance the residential environment,” the mayor has defended.
Initially, both projects were sent to the Cabildo -last January-, so that they would be financed through the funds that correspond to Yaiza in the distribution of the Canary Islands Development Fund (Fdcan). However, the councilors of Public Works and Sports of Yaiza, Jonatan Lemes and Ángel Lago, state that "given the lack of response", they have chosen to "put them out to public tender with municipal funds", noting that they will present to the Cabildo "other projects of general interest to be executed with charge to said funds.”
The action in the installation of the town center foresees the repair and leveling of the pavement of the main indoor soccer field, relocation of the grandstand, perimeter fencing, installation of a new playground, installation of calisthenics machines, incorporation of furniture and accessibility improvements, among other actions.
In the sports area of San Marcial del Rubicón, near Las Coloradas and adjacent to Avenida Papagayo, a multifunctional court for soccer and basketball will be put into service, bleachers and calisthenics-type machines will be installed, in addition to the construction of public bathrooms, closure of the center, street furniture and gardens.
Companies interested in the public tender can submit offers until Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
