The works for the underpass of Playa Honda will begin the first week of June, as reported by the City Council of San Bartolomé. A project whose objective is to "improve the connectivity of the section of the LZ-2 that connects the industrial and commercial area of the town".

This action, promoted by the Cabildo of Lanzarote and assumed by the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, will consist of "the creation of a new underpass, parallel to the existing one, to alleviate road traffic, estimated at about 10,000 vehicles per day that currently frequent this access, which causes traffic jams at specific times that also affect traffic on the LZ-2", comments the Consistory.

"The design projected for this access is also oriented to facilitate pedestrian traffic, favoring communication, both for people on foot and cyclists, providing an amplitude that allows coexistence between pedestrian, cyclist and driver, with a pedestrian sidewalk of 5.50 meters, a segregated bike lane of 3.50 meters, a green strip of 1.90 meters, and a traffic lane of 5.50 meters", he points out.

"The action contemplates the execution on the LZ-2 road, on the underpass, bus stops for intercity lines with the aim of eliminating traffic in the link", he confirms. "In addition, these stops will be communicated with the underpass through outdoor itineraries", he adds.

"The project, which will have an approximate duration of six months, will have a budget of 3,813,768 million euros", he concludes.
