The Department of Public Works of the Arrecife City Council has started this week the works to modernize Ildefonso Valls de la Torre Street. The capital's mayor and direct head of the Department of Public Works, Yonathan de León Machín, has given the green light to the awarded company to begin the remodeling of this road that connects Fred Olsen Avenue with Manolo Millares Street.
Mayor Yonathan de León, who has been at the start of this new work, has announced that, after the completion of the new sidewalk of Valls de la Torre, the direction of traffic will be modified in this street to provide greater fluidity and mobility to the road traffic that travels in the vicinity of El Reducto Beach.
Residents of El Greco Street have authorized access to their respective garages, which will run along a section of Valls de la Torre towards Fred Olsen Avenue, near the Hotel Lancelot.
Yonathan de León has reported that the works of the urban transformation of this road are part of the project and tender for the integral remodeling of Fred Olsen Avenue, in the section from the Hotel Lancelot to the El Islote building. He also specified that after the San Ginés festivities - which has El Reducto beach as one of its main stages - the awarded company will start the works in this section of the Arrecife maritime front next to the emblematic capital beach.
The mayor has remarked that this entire area, adjacent to the La Destila school, will undergo a great change in its urban image with the creation of new sidewalks, the improvement of underground pipes (including the rainwater network), a new shade area with the planting of trees, and the placement of a new network of night lighting and urban furniture.
Arrecife Urban Modernization Plan
Yonathan de León has detailed that the works on Valls de la Torre Street, together with Fred Olsen Avenue and Manolo Millares, are part of a powerful municipal investment plan for the modernization of the city of Arrecife. In this area, the transformation of El Greco, Valencia, and El Daute streets (La Destila school) has been completed for months. Now a section of Manolo Millares is being executed, in the sector that runs from the La Destila school to Guenia Street, and Valls de la Torre are joined and from September Fred Olsen Avenue.
