The Cabildo of Lanzarote has just awarded the works for the execution of the restoration of the Windmill located in the Los Molinos neighborhood, in the Villa de Teguise, to the company Mantenimientos Marmape, S.L, for an amount that amounts to 104,525.29 euros, including taxes.

The intervention, with an execution period of three months, is co-financed by the Regional Development Fund (FEDER) within the framework of the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy “CONURBAN AZUL” of the Sustainable Growth operational program 2014-2020.

The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, highlights the work that the institution is carrying out for the recovery of the island's historical heritage and points out that “this type of project is approached from a double perspective; on the one hand, contribute to ensuring that the island's heritage is in optimal conditions of conservation, while at the same time we turn our heritage wealth into an attraction for those who visit us, with the repercussion that this entails in the generation of employment.”

According to the Councilor for Public Works, Planning and Project Coordinator, Jacobo Medina, “the actions contemplate the repair of the original cube and adding all the elements of the machinery and the roof, using for this purpose pieces similar to those that existed in origin and reusing those that have been preserved, such as the two millstones.”

These works will be complemented by the repair of the plinth or exterior base and with urbanization tasks to improve access and provide lighting to the monument.
