The Councilor for Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, Ángel Vázquez, has reminded the Socialist Party that the Cabildo of Lanzarote “neither processed nor audited the million euros that they say they have allocated to the Call for artistic, cultural and educational projects of the Tourist Centers during the years 2022 and 2023, as reflected in the last Plenary Session of the Corporation”.
“Two million euros”, Vázquez explained, “that never existed or became effective because there was a warning note from the Legal Advice of the First Institution that considered that this project did not conform to a subsidy but to a transfer of capital from the Cabildo to launch activities outside the corporate purpose of the Centers”.
“During the Plenary session held this Tuesday, it was clear that the Cabildo "did not allocate a single euro" and that it was the Tourist Centers "who had to sustain with their own funds an initiative with clear electoral purposes”, he pointed out. “It is settled, then” he concluded, “an artificial controversy sustained from the beginning of the legislature with the sole objective of confusing public opinion”.
Vázquez has recalled, finally, that the Tourist Centers will manage “1.5 million euros to boost the cultural fabric during the current year 2024”.
