"Progress, in reverse". That's how a resident of Uga feels things are working in Lanzarote, after the Cabildo has removed the bus connection that Uga had with Puerto del Carmen, by restructuring line 60, which runs the Arrecife-Playa Blanca route.
This line included a stop in Uga, which allowed access to Puerto del Carmen. However, the Cabildo introduced changes to this line, so that although the stop in Uga is maintained, the bus does not pass through Puerto del Carmen afterwards, but goes to Yaiza.
Initially, this problem was solved with the new line 61, which runs the Playa Blanca-Puerto del Carmen route, since the statement issued by the Cabildo of Lanzarote included a stop at the church of Uga. "Arrecife Bus was wrong and in the first calendar they gave us there was a stop in Uga, but when the final calendar was passed this stop was not contemplated", they explain from the Cabildo.
Therefore, the only solution this resident has to get to Puerto del Carmen is to go to Yaiza, with line 60, and from there take the other bus line that would take him to Puerto del Carmen.
However, the Cabildo affirms that everything is "in the testing phase" and that it is possible to introduce changes, so they urge those affected to go to the Department of Transport of the Cabildo. "Everything is planned to benefit the largest number of people, but sometimes a minority can be harmed and this can be rectified". In fact, the island institution points out that some changes have already been made in this regard on the line that connects Arrecife and Playa Blanca.
