The Canary Health Service continues to advance in the stabilization process of the staff of public health institutions in the Canary Islands with the publication of the provisional resolution of a dozen more professional categories, corresponding to groups A/A1 Health, C/C1 Health, and C/C2 Management and Services.

These new provisional resolutions recently published correspond to the categories of Hospital Emergency Physician (A/A1 Health), specialist technician in Dietetics and Nutrition (C/C1 Health), and bricklayer, facility driver, seamstress, plumber, gardener, and hairdresser (C/C2 Management and Services).

Thus, in total, provisional results of the merit competition for 26 categories have already been published, five categories already have their definitive results, and 55 are in the process of requesting positions.

This data on the progress of the stabilization process of the staff of public health institutions in the archipelago demonstrates that in just over a year and a half, the SCS has quadrupled the management of the previous team in the selection processes, despite the significant challenges encountered.

This process will allow the stabilization of the staff of statutory and labor personnel of the SCS, which consists of a total of 12,428 positions, of which 9,867 people will be able to access directly through a merit competition.

The SCS appreciates the effort made by the staff of the General Directorate of Human Resources and the members of the tribunals, essential professionals to carry out this macro-offer of public employment that, as indicated, has no precedent in the thirty years of history of the SCS.

New Competitive Exam

Alongside the stabilization process, it is worth remembering that the SCS published on June 13 in the Official Bulletin of the Canary Islands the announcement of selective tests for access to the status of permanent statutory personnel for 8,296 basic vacant positions, corresponding to the Public Employment Offers (OEP) of 2023 and 2024, an announcement that was negotiated in the Health Sector Table in April of this year.

The announced positions cover 113 professional categories of health and management personnel, both in Primary Care and Hospital Care, and are distributed across all Health Areas of the Archipelago.

The selection process will be developed through the competition-opposition system, with two access systems: open and internal promotion, and also includes a reservation of positions for people with disabilities, in accordance with current regulations.
