The Tías City Council launched last Monday an office for the Social Work Unit (UTS) in the facilities of the Puerto del Carmen Senior Center. In it, two social workers and an administrative assistant attend by appointment to the residents of the area, in their needs for advice and guidance to have social resources.
The Councilor for Social Services, Nicolás Saavedra, explains that "in this way, users are being attended to, avoiding travel and facilitating both interventions and face-to-face appointments, given that more than 65 percent of the vulnerable families served live in that area of the municipality." The telephone number to request an appointment is 928 524 466.
In the UTS, procedures are carried out for obtaining internal or external resources from the public Social Services system, as well as referral, where appropriate, to other social protection systems. It mainly provides information, assessment, guidance and advice services.
Aspects such as family support aid, minimum insertion income, home help service, social emergency aid, job training, family dynamics, guidance on administrative or legal procedures, etc., are some of the services provided from this area.
