The Tías City Council presented this Tuesday, International Safe Internet Day, the Digital Strategic Plan of Tías, becoming the first municipality in the Canary Islands to apply the methodology of digital cities and municipalities of the European Commission in the archipelago. This plan includes 12 projects belonging to 4 lines of action to be executed in four years, from the second semester of this year until 2027.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, presided over the event together with the Councilor for New Technologies, Kalinda Pérez, and the technicians from the Strategic Innovation Consultancy (Carsa), the company in charge of carrying out the plan, Igor Suárez and Antonio Collado. After reporting on the results of the study that reveal the current situation in digital matters, whose degree of maturity is low, it was clarified that the objective is for residents and companies to be at the forefront of digitization.

"The goal is to turn Tías into a municipality where no one is excluded by the digital divide, and that no company misses any opportunity for not having faced the digital transformation. The promotion of digital culture in all areas of society is established as a future priority," the Consistory points out.

It is intended to "train people, generate a real economic impact through digital transformation, simplify administrative processes and promote collaborative culture." The implementation of this strategic plan is budgeted at 905,000 euros.

To this end, through the Carsa consultancy, the Tías City Council has 12 defined projects to be executed from the second semester of 2023 that complete the four axes of the municipality's digital transformation process: citizenship, economy, administration and community. Some of these projects are Tías 2.0 and Tías Digital Space.

Tías 2.0 aims to place the municipality as a national benchmark in digital education with the aim of eliminating the digital divide. A multi-year training program will be developed and work will be done to improve the availability of digital training, involving private and public companies, NGOs, associations and, mainly, the residents of Tías.

Tías Digital Space consists of the creation of a multidisciplinary space that acts as a cohesive element with the municipality where different tasks can be carried out, such as advising people, information desk for entrepreneurs and groups, identification and promotion of collaborative projects or the review and management of the strategy, among others.
