The sports events held during the summer holidays in Tías have culminated with the participation of more than 2,500 people, adding the activities directed in Playa Grande and in the municipal Sports Center, tournaments in different areas of the municipality, specific events and sports campuses in the fields of Tías and Puerto del Carmen.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, shows his "satisfaction for the response of the residents and visitors to such diverse sports activities and events that have allowed all audiences to find their space."
The Councilor for Sports, Ismael Cruz, adds that families and young people "have taken advantage of a wide and healthy offer that promotes the values of sport and strengthens our community." Cruz recalled that sport is an educational tool, in line with the municipal project Tías Juega Limpio.
An approximate total of 300 boys and girls participated in the different campuses, about 350 people are attending the directed activities both on the beach and in Tías, and more than 2,500 people have enjoyed the different sports events held throughout the summer program.
During the summer the campus "Lanzarote Training Fútbol" (June 30–July 27) was held at the Manuel Arrocha García fields of Puerto del Carmen and Francisco Bermúdez Hernández, "Pancho", of Tías. In this last field, the goalkeepers campuses "Ser Porteros Ernesto García" (July 1–4) and the Barça Academy (July 14–18) were also held.
In the municipal Sports Center, the summer camp of Psychomotricity C.B. Puerto del Carmen took place (July 2–September 6), while in the pavilion of the IES Puerto del Carmen and in Playa Grande the handball technification campus C.B. Puerto del Carmen was developed (July 7–August 29).
In addition, the campus Magec Tías (June 23–August 29) was taught in the Municipal Pavilion and the IES Tías, while the soccer technification campus of C.F. Sporting Tías (August 4–29) was held in the field of Tías.
The directed activities of pilates, maintenance and exercises in the water are being carried out in Playa Grande (during the months of July, August and September) and continue in the Sports Center with good reception from the participants.
The calendar included outstanding events such as the IV National Padel Challenger (June 23–29) in Hyde Park Lane, the Domingo Robayna Memorial indoor soccer tournament (July 28–August 1) in the Municipal Pavilion, the Beach Volleyball Tournament (August 1–3) in Playa Grande, the XI Barranco del Quíquere Popular Race (August 2), in La Tiñosa, the I La Tiñosa swimming crossing (August 2) in El Poril and the VII Mike Wheeler Memorial (August 2) in the IES Puerto del Carmen.
In turn, the II Soccer Tournament "Fiestas de Ntra. Sra. del Carmen" (August 14–16) and the Goalkeepers Battle (August 17) were held in the Manuel Arrocha García field, the Beach Soccer Tournament (August 15–17) in Playa Grande, The Fitness Race Tías (August 23–24), in the field of Tías, the II Charity Tournament "Fight against Cancer" (August 19–31) in Hyde Park Lane and the Freediving Ocean Cup (September 6–7), in Puerto del Carmen.
