The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, and the first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, symbolically signed the Adhesion Letter of the Tías City Council to the European Sustainable Mobility Week this Wednesday. The City Council commits to carry out actions and raise awareness about sustainability in travel.
Both were accompanied by the Councilor for the Environment, Carmen Gloria Rodríguez, who excused the Councilor for Mobility, Sergio García, for not attending the event due to force majeure.
“Raising awareness about the need to change our way of traveling towards more sustainable modes, promoting means of traveling on foot, by bicycle and by public transport; and raising awareness about the improvement of people's quality of life by modifying our mobility habits, gaining spaces for residents and reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere”, are the essential axes in the City Council's strategy, José Juan Cruz indicated.
The mayor recalled that the Tías City Council approved its Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) on May 25 of this year, published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) on July 10, 2023, and endowed with a budget of 19 million euros with specific strategies and measures related to compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
