The Tías City Council and the Cabildo of Lanzarote held a meeting this Friday with local businessmen to present the expected St. Patrick's Festival 2025, which will take place in Puerto del Carmen from March 15 to 17. This event, which celebrates Irish culture, has become an essential event in the island's festive calendar.
During the presentation, the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors for the success of the festival. In Cruz's opinion, "our municipality beats in the heart of the vast majority of Irish people, and this is thanks to the work of people who have made every Irish person who comes to our island feel at home."
The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that "the St. Patrick's Festival is an international benchmark for the Irish community, with which we maintain a close relationship and with which we share cultural and commercial ties to lead the attraction of investment and open new business and bilateral cooperation opportunities in the Canary Islands. In addition, Lanzarote and Ireland share deep cultural ties that date back to the 19th century, when Irish merchants played a key role in the economic development of the island."
The councilor of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote, Ángel Vázquez, said for his part that this celebration "has become an unmissable event for the Irish and residents." "From the CACTs we are fully aware of the importance of Irish tourism for us, as well as promoting their culture and traditions in a unique and unparalleled weekend," he asserted.
From Lanzarote Ireland Network (LIN), John Killeen wanted to thank the authorities present, especially the president of the Cabildo, for strengthening and formalizing relations between both communities, both in the recent trip to Ireland and in the celebration of the Festival, an unmissable event."
The St. Patrick's Festival 2025 will include a varied program that ranges from parades and musical performances to sports and gastronomic activities, offering both residents and visitors a unique experience that merges Irish and Canarian cultures.

In addition, during the festival, the Tías City Council will recognize five Irish businessmen who have been contributing to the development of Puerto del Carmen for more than 20 years: Mai Blake (Irish Harbour Bar), Shey and Kathleen Byrne (Paddy's Bar), Gilbert Browne (Spinnekar Bar), Gerry Flannigan (Nelly's Bar) and John Killeen (Lanzarote Investments).
The Tías City Council and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, through SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote and the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, invite all citizens and tourists to participate in this festival, which promises to be an unforgettable celebration during this weekend.
