The Tías City Council has acquired a system for the detection of drugs in drivers and a compact laser radar for speed control of vehicles for the Police. With its own funds, the council has made this investment which has amounted to 20,544 euros.

The mayor, José Juan Cruz, received this morning the representative of the company Tradesegur, Juan Antonio Rojo, and went with the head of the Local Police, Antonio Rodríguez, to the police officers attending the course on handling these portable devices.

“We are responding to a need of the citizens and we provide the Police with essential tools to combat speeding and the consumption of narcotic substances,” he indicated.

The council made the acquisition of these portable devices in the company Tradesegur Sistemas de Seguridad Ciudadana, from which the handling course is facilitated and information is provided on the characteristics of the detection and analysis systems.

The compact laser radar with image capture for speed control works in a manual and automatic mode and detects vehicles circulating in the control area, measures the speed of each of them and takes several photographic captures in case the measured speed exceeds the pre-established limit.

The DDS2 drug test is a portable digital analysis system for the detection of drugs of abuse and their metabolites by saliva analysis. Based on the principle of enzyme immunoassay, it allows detecting the consumption of THC cannabis, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines and methamphetamines (including MDM/ecstasy) with accurate and precise results in just 5 minutes.
