This is how the municipalities voted: the PSOE obtained its biggest victory in Arrecife and only Tinajo resisted it

The socialists won the Congress in six of the seven municipalities on the island and the Senate in five, while the rest of the forces received disparate support in each of the two chambers.

The Socialist Party's victory in the general elections held this Sunday was reflected in practically all the municipalities of the island, with the sole exception of two traditional strongholds of the Canarian Coalition: Haría and Tinajo. In the case of Tinajo, CC was the most voted force both to Congress and to the Senate, while in Haría it only managed to prevail in the voting to the Upper House, leaving the other also in the hands of the PSOE.

Thus, los socialists won the Congress in six of the seven municipalities of the island and in five to the Senate, achieving their greatest victory in Arrecife. In the capital, the PSOE obtained 31.88% of the votes to the Congress and 30.77% of the votes to the Senate. For its part, the Canarian Coalition was the third force in the Senate in Arrecife, behind the PP, and the fifth in the Congress.

As for the popular ones, in Arrecife they were the third force in the Congress, behind Podemos and the PSOE. In addition, in three municipalities they were even overtaken by Ciudadanos, which surpassed the PP in San Bartolomé, Teguise and Yaiza, and which in the whole of the island was only 14 votes below the popular ones.

 

Arrecife


In the capital, the PSOE prevailed with a clear advantage over the rest, almost doubling the votes of the second force. To the Congress, the PSOE received 7,551 supports (31.88%), and to the Senate 7,028 (30.77%). As for the rest of the parties, as in the whole of the island, they obtained disparate results to the two Chambers. Thus, Podemos was the second force in the capital to the Congress, with 4,059 votes (17.14%), while to the Senate it was the fourth, with 3,344 (14.64%).

For its part, the PP was second to the Senate, with 3,854 votes (16.87%), and third to the Congress, with 3,156 (13.33%). The third place to the Senate in the capital was for CC, with 3,500 votes (15.32%), but to the Congress it fell to the fifth place, with 2,753 votes (11.62%). 

As for Ciudadanos, it was fifth to the Senate with 1,769 votes (7.74%) and fourth to the Congress, ahead of CC, with 2,908 votes (121.28%). Behind were Vox and Nueva Canarias, which occupied the sixth and seventh place both to the Congress and to the Senate.

 

Haría


The PSOE won the elections to the Congress with 717 votes (27.88%), but was second to the Senate, with 679 supports (27.13%). In the Upper House it was surpassed by CC, which CC was first to the Senate with 715 votes (28.57%) and second to the Congress, with 592 (23.02%).

The same exchange of positions in this municipality occurred with Podemos and the PP in the third and fourth place. The purple formation was third to the Congress with 434 votes and fourth to the Senate with 336, while the popular ones were fourth to the Congress with 319 votes and third to the Congress with 381.

For its part, Ciudadanos was in fifth place in Haría both to the Upper House and to the Lower House, with 108 and 238 votes respectively, while the sixth place was for Nueva Canarias (with 101 votes to the Senate and 117 to the Congress) and the seventh for Vox (with 79 to the Senate and 104 to the Congress).

 

San Bartolomé


The socialists obtained another clear victory in San Bartolomé, with 2,524 votes to the Congress (29.29 percent) and 2,445 to the Senate (29.07%). As the second force to both chambers was Podemos, which received 1,737 votes to the Congress (20.16%) and 1,408 votes to the Senate (16.74%).

The third place to the Congress was for Ciudadanos, which surpassed the PP in this municipality with 1,223 votes (14.19%), compared to the 1,038 of the PP (12.04%), which was in fourth place. However, the popular ones were the third force in San Bartolomé to the Senate, with 1,273 votes (15.13%), while Ciudadanos fell to the fifth place in this Chamber.

For its part, the Canarian Coalition was fifth to the Congress with 936 votes (10.86%) and fourth to the Senate with 1,273 (14.54%), while Vox and Nueva Canarias were also in San Bartolomé in sixth and seventh place respectively.

 

Teguise


Although as the count progressed CC hoped to surpass the PSOE in this municipality in the votes to the Senate, finally here also the socialist candidate prevailed with 2,168 votes (23.69%), compared to the 2,114 (23.10%) that the Canarian Coalition received, which was in second place.

Much more comfortable was the victory to the Congress, where the socialists won in Teguise with 2,334 votes (24.85%), while CC received 1,606 (17.10%), also being in second position.

For its part, Podemos was third to the Congress in this municipality, with 1,569 votes, but fourth to the Senate, with 1,262. The third place to the Senate was for the PP, with 1,443 votes, which however fell to the fifth place to the Congress, with 1,146, behind even Ciudadanos, which was fourth and took more than 300 votes. In total, the orange formation received 1,487 votes to the Congress in Teguise, although to the Senate it fell to 850, being in fifth place.

The sixth place was for Vox, both to the Congress and to the Senate, with 645 and 467 votes respectively, and the seventh for Nueva Canarias, which received 342 votes to the Upper House and 390 to the Upper House.

 

Tías


The PSOE has once again achieved a victory in Tías, after having lost the last general elections against the PP. In this municipality, the socialists have received 1,721 votes to the Congress (28.19%) and 1,664 to the Senate (28.03%), comfortably surpassing the popular ones, who have also suffered here an important setback.

However, the PP has managed to maintain the second place both to the Congress, with 1,163 votes (19.05%), and to the Senate, with 1,355 (22.83%). From the third place, the scheme of other municipalities is repeated, reflecting that many Lanzarote residents have cast a differentiated vote to the two chambers. In Tías, the third place to the Congress has been occupied by Ciudadanos, with 947 votes (15.51%), while to the Senate it has fallen to the fifth place, with 519 votes (8.74%).

For its part, Podemos has been third to the Senate and fourth to the Congress, although here it has also obtained more votes to the Lower House, with 770 and 912 respectively. As for the Canarian Coalition, it has been fifth to the Congress  in Tías with 541 votes and fourth to the Senate with 763; while Vox has been in sixth place and NC in the seventh, with 482 and 165 votes to the Congress respectively.

 

Tinajo


Tinajo is the only municipality on the island where CC has prevailed in the elections to both Chambers, although by a small difference in the case of the Congress. To the Lower House, CC received 733 votes (25.88%) compared to the 712 of the PSOE (25.14%), while to the Senate it added 765 (31.53%), compared to the 614 of the socialists (25.31%).

The third and fourth place was exchanged by the PP and Podemos. The popular ones were third to the Senate with 386 votes and fourth to the Congress with 342, while Podemos obtained the third place to the Congress with 403 votes and the fourth to the Senate with 248.

The fifth place in Tinajo has been for Ciudadanos both to the Congress and to the Senate, with 335 and 120 votes respectively. For its part, Nueva Canarias was sixth to the Senate with 101 votes and seventh to the Congress with 88, and Vox seventh to the Senate with 87 and sixth to the Congress with 131.

 

Yaiza


The PSOE also prevailed in Yaiza both to the Congress and to the Senate, with 1,156 votes (25.43%) and 1,075 (26.14%) respectively, while Podemos managed to position itself as the second force to both Chambers. In total, the purple formation received in this municipality 862 votes to the Congress (18.96%) and 682 to the Senate (16.59%). 

The third most voted party to the Lower House was Ciudadanos, which overtook the PP with 643 votes (18.96%), although here it also accused the fall in the votes to the Senate, where it fell to fifth place with 398 votes. The popular ones were thus fourth to the Congress in Yaiza, with 631 votes, although third to the Senate, with 632.

As for the Canarian Coalition, in this municipality it had its second worst result, being fifth to the Congress with 528 votes and fourth to the Senate with 545. The sixth place in both chambers was for Vox, while Nueva Canarias was seventh to the Senate and eighth to the Congress, behind even the PACMA, which obtained 106 votes compared to the 96 of NC.
