“For the Tías City Council it is an honor that the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, enjoys his vacations in Lanzarote with his family. Furthermore, we want to invite the President of the Nation to visit our municipality, both our coastal area, Puerto del Carmen, and our inland towns,” says the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz.
The highest representative of the City Council affirms, on behalf of the government group, formed by PSOE and Unidas Sí Podemos, that “the expected visit of the President of Spain entails several values and benefits to Lanzarote, from the international visibility of our island to the indirect economic boost.”
José Juan Cruz Saavedra points out, in view of the motion of the insular PP to declare the head of the Spanish Executive persona non grata, that this proposal “is absurd and undemocratic.” For this reason, he adds, “we want to show our support to the highest leader of the Spanish Government and invite him to our municipal district, a visit in which we would culturally reinforce our towns and traditions.”
From the Tías City Council we want to deny the message from the Popular Party commenting that “we do not want Pedro Sánchez in Lanzarote” and it is recalled that the most voted party on the island during the last general elections was the PSOE, which won in all the municipalities of the island, in addition to the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
