The Teguise City Council will debate this Monday in an ordinary plenary session on the application for a subsidy to promote open commercial areas, according to a collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Employment, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote. This proposal would be the first step to advance in the Master Plan, which will turn the Historic Center of La Villa into an open shopping center.
The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, explained that from this Master Plan "seven specific projects will be derived", that will regulate "the aesthetics, traffic, waste, security and lighting" of the historic center. In this way, the regulations that will affect this space will be drawn up, "so that it is governed as a unit, as an open shopping center".
