The Teguise City Council decreed this Tuesday the stoppage of the works of a house that the former mayor of Arrecife, María Isabel Déniz, is building in Caleta de Sebo (La Graciosa). The decree of stoppage and sealing has been signed, however, 25 days after the Local Police drew up an urban planning report because the work did not have a municipal license. The house has been built at a great pace and this Tuesday the roof was being put on.

The Local Police drew up a report on June 3, when the previous Corporation was still in office, but the original of that report is not in the file at the City Council headquarters, so the procedure was not initiated. Days later, on June 22, after the visit to La Graciosa of the new mayor, Oswaldo Betancort (CC), a report was again drawn up by the Local Police.

This Tuesday morning, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Echedey Eugenio, assured ACN Press that the City Council had ordered the sealing, but he could not specify the date of that order, which was signed throughout the day. Eugenio argued that "that is not news" and did not want to inform of the reasons for the sealing, stating that "it is information that the owner of the property has to know". The stoppage order has not yet been communicated to the Local Police of La Graciosa to make it effective.

The former mayor requested authorization from both the Heritage Area of the Cabildo and the Ministry of the Environment of the Government of the Canary Islands for the restoration and improvement of a house and a warehouse that are included in the Catalog of protection of elements of patrimonial interest of the Rector Plan of Use and Management of the Chinijo Archipelago. Both Heritage and the Government gave their approval.

However, to do the work, the old house has been demolished, without the demolition being authorized. In order to demolish a house affected by Heritage, this department must give its approval. The property, which is located in front of the Society, is the first store that existed in La Graciosa. It is also affected by the easement of transit of Coasts.
