The Teguise animal shelter, managed by the Municipal Council and the company Gesplan, has managed the adoption and care of 276 animals in 2024, reaching more than 500 animals since the beginning of this mandate. Among them, 141 dogs, 127 cats and eight of other species were cared for, many of them were rescued from public roads and other places in the town.

The mayoress Olivia Duque highlights the "effective and constant work" of the institution in the care and welfare of animals providing medical care, food and a home. “Throughout the past year, Teguise has been one of the municipalities most committed to animal care, even creating the 1st Animal Welfare Fair”, she stresses.

For his part, the Councillor for Animal Welfare, Ginés González, stresses the importance of the work carried out with the sterilisation and identification of all animals after being collected. “During the year 2024, 27 adoptions of cats and 32 of dogs were formalised, complying with all the legal requirements of identification by microchip, vaccination and deworming”, he points out.

“We invite any responsible person to visit us to offer those who still remain in the animal protection centre, a home with a family, as well as to collaborate in the identification and care on a voluntary basis”, says Ginés González.

The Town Council of Teguise reinforces its commitment to the care and management of animals in the municipality, with the aim of reducing the number of abandonments and promoting responsible adoption.
