The Arrecife City Council has announced that it is working "to improve and expand" the current facilities of the Municipal Sports Park of the city. To this end, Clece, the successful bidder for a period of 20 years, aims to improve the capacity of the center's facilities.
"The new sports space that is going to be built is attached to the main building of the Sports Park, in its back. It will have two new multipurpose rooms, one of 200 m2 and another of 40 m2, configured as a multifunctional space and dedicated to different sports activities with a monitor. With this execution, our objective is becoming a reality, which is none other than to offer the best to the citizens", said the mayoress of Arrecife this Wednesday
In addition, two new paddle tennis courts will be built, which will be built on one of the two existing tennis courts. The objective is to expand the offer of paddle tennis, an activity that currently "has a great demand" and that until now had only two courts for its enjoyment, "which will also be completely renovated". In total there will be four paddle tennis courts with glass enclosure, in addition to one tennis court. Along with these actions, it is planned to establish a Paddle Tennis School to boost these spaces, maintaining the other tennis court and improving its perimeter fencing.
Another of the improvements that will be made in the exterior is the replacement of the artificial turf of the soccer field, to improve the training and playing area of the teams and athletes who currently use it.
More sports activities
According to the City Council, the interior spaces of the sports center will be redesigned, increasing the square meters available in the fitness room, and creating a large open space with differentiated areas for different activities (cardiovascular work, bodybuilding and functional area). Related to the previous remodeling, all the equipment and machinery of this fitness room will be renovated.
The cycling room has already been refurbished and 40 new "state-of-the-art" bicycles have been installed with magnetic resistance, computer and connectivity technology. The room has included a virtual projection system that has connectivity with the bicycles, "which will considerably improve the result of physical training and entertainment of users".
Changes that lead to environmental and energy improvements
The set of works and improvements aims to create a space in which natural light is used to the maximum. "A design has been proposed that follows climatic parameters, offering solar protection where it is needed and seeking good ventilation to minimize the need for air conditioning of the building, and reduce energy consumption," explained Francisco Lázaro, director of Clece in the Canary Islands.
Specifically, among other technological innovations that will help to promote environmental improvements and achieve maximum energy savings, a new air treatment and heat production system will be installed that, as a whole, will reduce more than 500,000 KWh/year.
