The Socialist Party of Lanzarote reports that the Government of Spain has activated financial aid to alleviate the damage caused by the torrential rains recently recorded on the island. This aid is framed within the provisions of Royal Decree 307/2005, of March 18, which regulates subsidies in emergency situations or natural disasters, and is now available to citizens, companies, and affected local administrations.

This aid is intended for those affected in the municipalities of Arrecife and Teguise. According to the Spanish Government Delegation in the Canary Islands, the deadline is May 14.

The general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote and deputy in Congress, María Dolores Corujo, stated that "the Government of Spain has acted with the diligence required by a situation of these characteristics, launching the necessary resources to support the affected people and entities."

Corujo emphasized that this aid is compatible with other measures that may be adopted by the Government of the Canary Islands or the Cabildo of Lanzarote, and called on local administrations to "work in a coordinated manner to facilitate access to this aid and ensure that it reaches those who need it as soon as possible."

For his part, the island director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, Pedro Viera, recalled that "from the first moment, the State activated the emergency protocols and offered the Cabildo of Lanzarote the collaboration of the Army, in case its intervention was necessary, through the Civil Protection services."

Viera also emphasized that "the involvement of the State has been total from the beginning of the meteorological episode, guaranteeing both the immediate response and the accompaniment in the recovery phase."

The PSOE of Lanzarote is available to collaborate in the dissemination of information and in guiding the process of applying for this aid.
