The last seat to be decided in the Parliament of the Canary Islands after the recent elections on May 28 has been delayed, but that delay of nine days has been worth it. Nueva Canarias shows this Thursday "its satisfaction" after it has been officially confirmed that the canarista candidate for Lanzarote and La Graciosa to the Parliament of the Canary Islands, the nurse Yoné Caraballo, has finally managed to retain the seat that until the last minute has been at stake in the island constituency to the Canarian Chamber, the party reports.
And, as has been ratified just a few hours ago in the Autonomous Electoral Board, the count of all the votes of Lanzarote and La Graciosa that has been carried out in Tenerife certifies that, indeed, the Lanzarote canaristas have finally obtained in the elections of May 28 a fifth deputy in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, in this case the seat that Yoné Caraballo will occupy.
The achievement of Nueva Canarias goes to the detriment of the options, in this case, of the Popular Party, a formation that the canaristas also congratulate for their electoral results, despite not having finally managed to include a second deputy for Lanzarote in the scope of the island constituency.
"We were sure that, in addition to the three parliamentarians from the island of Gran Canaria and the colleague Natalia Santana, from Fuerteventura, the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa would also have a representative of Nueva Canarias in Parliament where, as I have committed to the society of Lanzarote and Graciosa, in this legislature they will find out that the two islands exist", Yoné Caraballo outlined after learning the excellent news.
"As I already announced, if the citizens placed their trust in me in these elections, my purpose and that of my political formation is none other than to truly represent the interests of the residents of Lanzarote and La Graciosa without ties or other types of obedience that do not respond to improving the well-being of our people", Caraballo stressed.
"The defense of public health and the Third Sector; the promotion and protection of the primary sector; the dissemination of Canarian identity and indigenous legacy; housing and youth; and, especially, the care of our capital, Arrecife, as an urban and social environment that needs the help of all political actors to advance in the quality of life", the new deputy highlighted as the main challenges of his new parliamentary work.
"The political formation that grows the most throughout the island, with an increase of 7.58%"
Likewise, from the canarista ranks they emphasize that Nueva Canarias has achieved greater quotas of representativeness in the municipalities of the Island compared to the results of the elections four years ago, becoming, in fact, the political formation that grows the most throughout the island with an increase of 7.58% and consolidating as the fourth political force of Lanzarote with two councilors in the Island Council represented in Óscar Noda and Daisy
Villalba; a councilor in Teguise with Fernando Jiménez and another in Haría with Marcos Lemes. In addition, they consolidate their electoral alliances with the absolute majority of UPY in Yaiza and the two representatives of the MRT in Tinajo.
"The results confirm the good work done in recent years"
For the members of the canarista formation, these results confirm "the good work done in recent years, with a clear idea of how to do useful politics without tension". A project, they maintain, that they intend to "improve in 2027 following their strategic idea of Island-Home", they conclude.
