A total of 153 people joined the unemployment lists in Lanzarote during the month of July, which is equivalent to 2.2% more than the previous month.
On the other hand, unemployment fell in La Palma (-0.2%), El Hierro (-0.8%) and especially in Fuerteventura, where it fell by 2.3%, equivalent to 133 new employees.
Next is La Gomera, where unemployment rose by 1.7%, while in Tenerife and Gran Canaria it grew by 0.4% and 0.2% respectively.
However, in the whole of the last twelve months the balance remains positive. Unemployment has fallen by 6.9% on the island since July last year, specifically from 7,723 unemployed to 7,189 last month.
By municipalities unemployment rose in all of them except Yaiza where it fell by 0.7%.
In Teguise there was the largest increase in unemployment, 7% (almost sixty people); followed by San Bartolomé (4.9%), Tinajo (3.4%), Haría 2.6%, Tías (2%) and in Arrecife it was 0.8%.
