There are 194 affected, they are supported by more than 3,000 signatures, and this Thursday they have raised their voices again because "they do not know if the allegations they presented to the project have been accepted", and the meeting they were going to hold with the Cabildo to find an alternative has not yet been called. Initially, at the end of January, the work was scheduled to be tendered, and for the moment, the project will be carried out as approved.
The framework chosen for the protest has been one of the houses affected by the new road project, and half of it is expected to be demolished when the works begin. "We don't want more lies," Rosario González demanded on behalf of the residents, since, according to them, the City Council assured that it was the Government of the Canary Islands that supported this project, and apparently, the local administration was the one that requested that the road pass through the town, "with the intention of splitting the town in two".
On the other hand, they rely on a survey, published in a media outlet, which reflects that more than 75 percent of the residents are against the project and reproach the Teguise City Council for stating that "many allegations supported it".
They ask for a response from the administrations and lament "the lack of information". In addition, they have censured the attitude of some political parties, who have disengaged after expressing their support. "This morning I spoke with Fomento and they have confirmed that they have not received any documentation, only what I sent them", explains Rosario González in reference to the recent meeting that Manuel Fajardo and Marcos Hernández had with Fomento. "The PSOE is not interested in getting involved with the project now, because Carlos Espino's signature is on the environmental impact report", they maintain.
