The spokesperson for the Renovating Movement of Tinajo (MRT), Antonio Morales, accuses Mayor Jesús Machín of leaving two motions and three requests for appearance out of the ordinary plenary session held on March 9. Morales has pointed out that the mayor lied when he said that the political corporation had not registered two initiatives before the City Council. At the same time, he pointed out that the appearances requested before the consistory "made sense" although the mayor considered that "they were not of municipal competence".
“They have not included either our motions or the appearances that we have been requesting since November of last year," the party stressed in a statement. In the same vein, he insists that Jesús Machín "blatantly lies or whoever is in charge of this documentation is lying to him." To corroborate this, the Renovating Movement of Tinajo provided the documentation that proves the presentation of the registrations before the City Council.
"The certifications of the City Council itself that demonstrate that we did register our motions in due time and form with all the documentation included,” Morales assured.
In the case of the appearances that the MRT has been requesting for months, its spokesperson specifies that “we have been waiting for the three appearances that we requested since November 15 for the ordinary plenary session that should have been convened in December, and that was not held in February of this year either," they added from the political group.
One of the appearances was requested for the possible overnight stay of people in the teleclub of La Santa; another linked to the current situation of the General Plan of the municipality and a third referring to the supply cuts of Canal Gestión in Tinajo and the reasons why the City Council did not pay those invoices.
Regarding the argument used last Thursday by the mayor to “disregard again” the appearances requested by the MRT “for not having information about it,” Morales recalls that “the competences in matters such as water are municipal even though these are delegated to the Island Water Consortium, where the mayor himself is a member.” He adds in relation to the other two appearances requested that the teleclub of La Santa “is also of municipal ownership” and, in the same way, he highlights that priority issues for a local Administration such as the General Planning Plan “are also of municipal competence.”
In this sense, Morales assures that he is increasingly clear that Jesús Machín “is hiding something” since, “repeatedly, he has once again rendered our requests for appearance ineffective in the agenda of this ordinary plenary session that has been convened with a six-month delay.” Regarding this delay in the convocation of ordinary sessions, the spokesperson for the MRT has described as a “lame excuse” the justification alleged by the mayor, who has assured before the Corporation “that the secretary has too much work.” “He excuses himself on that to fail to comply with the Law again,” Morales denounces.
“One of the tasks in the work of the secretary, among other things, is precisely to be in the plenary sessions and take minutes of them. If he has as much work as the mayor says, from the Renovating Movement we already proposed that these functions can be delegated to any other person they deem appropriate, but what is regrettable is that this is the excuse of Jesús Machín to not give transparency to the vital issues for the municipality of Tinajo and, in addition, to prevent the opposition from doing its job as the Law dictates,” Morales highlights.
The spokesperson for the MRT also assures that during the ordinary plenary session it has been possible to verify “the bad manners and the inappropriate tone” that the mayor has used when addressing, especially, Morales himself. “We know of his inefficiency and his ineptitude and poor management and planning, but at all times we address the mayor with respect and in a moderate tone. We regret the nerves of the mayor and the bad manners he used when answering the questions and interventions of the Renovating Movement,” he adds.
