The Valterra Festivities in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, organized by the Neighborhood Association of this seaside neighborhood with the collaboration of the Department of Celebrations led by Echedey Eugenio, will begin this Friday, July 11 with a program full of activities designed for the whole family.
The Deputy Mayor of Arrecife also encourages you to enjoy these days in the Plaza de Valterra of these Festivities “which are not only a meeting point for joy and coexistence, but also constitute a heartfelt tribute to the roots of Arrecife, to the fishing tradition that has forged the soul of this neighborhood and to that unwavering faith that is renewed every July around the Virgen del Carmen”.
The traditional batucada and parade of giants and big-heads will be the starting signal for the Festivities at 7:30 p.m., which will have a very beloved person in the neighborhood, as well as in Arrecife and the entire island, and closely linked to the Carnival and Lanzarote sport, Antonio de la Hoz, who will read his proclamation from 8:30 p.m. The first day will end with the Los Lolas concert from 9:30 p.m.
Among the events of the program is the performance of singer Pepe Benavente (Saturday 12 at 9 p.m.), the Miss and Mister galas (Tuesday 15 at 8:30 p.m.), the land procession (Wednesday 7:30 p.m.), the election of Lady Valterra (Thursday 17, 8:00 p.m.), the folklore of the Los Gorfines band (Thursday 17 at 9:30 p.m.), the drag queen gala (Saturday 19 at 9 p.m.), the Parranda Night (also on Saturday 19 at 11 p.m.) and the traditional maritime procession of the Virgin from 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 20.
There will also be children's and adult play backs, sports tournaments, festivals, sardine barbecue, chickpea stew and popular paella, children's workshops, lottery, gymkhana, outdoor cinema and more musical performances.
